DRAFT SCRIPT TREATMENT REPORT 2

1963

Mama Sita hasn’t adapted well to her migration to foreign. She now misses her brood, this coupled with the bad reports she has been receiving from Granny Isadora aswell as the atrocious weather helps her to decide that England is not for her. She as borne a further two offspring and is heavily pregnant again. Dennis is unaware of her plan as she makes her mind up to return to her mother and children. Sita mails a letter to granny isadora outlining her plan, she confides in her mother her discomfort of having to live so far apart, also her concerns that the boys are now spending too much time with Iyada and them being influenced by him. GrannyIsadora tells Iyada that Sita will be returning home, and he in turn tells the boys.

June 1964

Since the news of Sita’s impending return home to Portland Cottage as come out, the boy’s are now on tenterhooks. each time an airplane flies overhead they look up longingly wondering if this is the one that will bring their beloved mother back home. it is without notice that Sita arrives, She is much rounder than when she was last home. She is driven in a big blue car, which brings the neighbourhood to a virtual standstill, cars being the rare commodity as they are. Her two youngest children Ren and Purly arrive also, speaking in their best eloquent English accents,the brothers find this language hard to understand. It is not long before sita gives birth to her seventh son , Who she names Wayne. The birth is complicated as granny Isadora diagnosis the breached position. Before Sita is rushed to hospital granny Isadora explains the significance of this seventh son,according to biblical scriptures, the number seven is a God blessed number. Granny turns this birth into a spiritual occasion, she beats on her pukka drum and chants psalms out of the bible.

SEPTEMBER 1964

Adjusting to the new found freedom  has its drawbacks for Sita. She at first views her new life-like a dream come true, she has her youngest children under one roof, also they are all now back in church and school. She then inevitably starts to miss Dennis. her plans to have a larger house built are now thwarted when thieves steal all her material off the land. Then Ren is bitten by a scorpion , which almost proves fatal. the intense heat becomes to problematic for the younger children who are used to much cooler climates, they are now also undoubtedly missing their father , also their English School Friends. Sita now views her home coming as a tragic mistake, she writes a letter to Dennis urging him to send for her and the last three children, which he does shortly after. Before Sita Departs back to England she assures the remaining  elder children that she will take them to England as soon as Dennis and her could raise the money. This the boys accept Knowing that she as gone to prepare a better place for them.
